Important: Before installing Kaspersky, it is essential that you remove any third-party anti-virus program that has been installed on your computer. Having multiple anti-viruses on your computer can potentially cause it to malfunction. When you install Kaspersky on your computer, it will automatically disable Windows Defender to prevent conflicts between the two programs. Third-party antivirus programs can be uninstalled by accessing the control panel and removing them from there. You can also scan for leftovers using Antivirus Removal Tool.
1. Go To The Kaspersky Free Page
2. Select Download Now
3. Select Download
4. Run Startup.exe
Important: If you are located in Europe, it is recommended to refer to the guide for the European region
5. Ensure "I want To Participate In Kaspersky Security Network" Is Checked Then Select Install
Information: Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) is a cloud-oriented system that offers protection against recently discovered and evolving cyber threats for your computer.
6. Installation Should Look Like This
Information: Kaspersky is a highly efficient and lightweight antivirus software that provides top-notch protection to your computer, consuming only around 10 mb to 100 mb of RAM when running in the background.
Information: When you install Kaspersky, you may be asked to try out Kaspersky Standard or Kaspersky Plus. If you're not planning on purchasing a paid version, I recommend declining the trials. This is because you will need to reinstall Kaspersky Free to use the free version after the trial is over.
7. Enter Your Email
Important: In order to use Kaspersky products, it's necessary to have an account. Provide your email address to either log in or create a new account.

9. Select Scan In The Background
Information: A background scan on Kaspersky is a type of scan that runs in the background while the computer is being used. It scans files and folders for any signs of malware or other security threats without affecting the performance of the computer. Background scans are an important aspect of antivirus software as they provide continuous protection against security threats without interrupting the user's work.
10. Select Next

12. Select Security On The Top Left
13. Select Choose Scan
14. Select The Settings Icon For Full Scan
15. Select Extreme For The Security Level Then Select Save
Information: The "Extreme" setting is more thorough than the standard Full Scan setting and can help to detect and remove more complex threats. While it may take longer to complete the scan and utilize more system resources, it is highly recommended for your first scan to ensure that your system is completely free of any potential threats.

Information: A full scan on Kaspersky checks all files and folders on a computer for potential security threats such as viruses, spyware, and other types of malware. The scan can take time depending on the system size and once it's done, Kaspersky displays a report of detected threats with recommendations. It's recommended to run a full scan to ensure system security.
19. Full Scan Should Look Like This
Information: After completing the full scan, your system should be free of any malware. However, if you want to ensure that your system is absolutely clean, I suggest following my Reset Windows guide, which will walk you through the process of reinstalling Windows. If you have already reinstalled Windows, there is no need to do so again. However, if you decide to reinstall Windows, it is highly recommended to reinstall Kaspersky as well to ensure that your system remains protected. On the other hand, if you choose not to reinstall Windows, you can rest assured that Kaspersky's real-time protection will continue to safeguard your system in the background against any potential threats.
